This are 5 uses for NLP by LISA Insurtech

One of our main purposes has always been taking care of the insured in the moments of truth, when it needs the insurance company the most and requires it to be easy to reach, operate and to have simple efficient processes, but how?

By offering to insurance companies technological tools necessary for them to offer the best service to the clients at all times:

– Close communication.

– Faster claims processing.

– Satisfaction on the end to end process.

To achieve our objective we have gained experience in technologies such as Big Data and artificial intelligence, the last one attached to Natural language processing (NLP).

¿What is NLP?

Is a subject that combines science, systems and technology such as: artificial intelligence and linguistics on the study of interactions between computers and human beings. The objective is to provide the machine with the capacity to interpret text emulating the human ability to understand and analyze language.

NLP use cases at LISA Insurtech

On LISA Insurtech we apply several techniques of NLP. We use it with Homer (our IA) and is associated with the documents provided by the claimants while issuing a case.

This are some cases of use for Homer (IA):

-Text Classification: We train a neuronal network that allows us to distinguish between different types of documents. This allows Homer to know which type of document he is analyzing.

Example: Police Report, Passport, notice of loss

-Pattern Recognition: It guarantees the search of some patterns inside texts that allow identifying critical data on documents. 

Example: RUT: 12.345.678-9

-Sentiment analysis: we use it to detect the “feeling” present while describing the event, this is, the emotional status of the one that describes the event.

Example: Anger, Sadness, among others.

-Search engines: It is a search technique based on keywords. We use it specially in the health field to quotate claims depending on the illness/injury regardless of how it’s stated. 

-Example: Let’s suppose that we have a knee injury registered on our databases, inside the document provided on the claim this can also be interpreted with keywords such as fracture, knee dislocation, sprain, etc.

-Chatbots:  These can be implemented by two different ways:

1.With menus that provide options for a user guide experience, usually they have a description of the possible workflows they can do. 

2.Creating conversational chatbots that, with help from neurological networks, can detect the “intentions” of the claimant and answer based on it like a human.

Finally this is just the tip of the iceberg of all the things we can provide to the insurance industry.

ITC Vegas 2021: LISA Insurtech experienced it this way

During October 4, 5 and 6, 2021, the world’s largest insurtech event, known as the ITC, took place. This event brings together startups, insurers, intermediaries, technology providers, investors and traditional operators of the insurance industry to showcase new innovations, trends, learn how to increase productivity and reduce costs.

Over the years, more than 30,000 major brands and even new participants have attended, and more than 100 countries have come together in this global event.

At the event held at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, many insurtechs announced important agreements and launches this year.

LISA Insurtech could not miss this important event, so our CEO, Gino Bustamante, went to this event in our representation.

We could not miss this opportunity to ask Gino several questions and interview him.

What do you think is the importance of LISA Insurtech’s participation in the ITC?

For all insurtech in general it is relevant, as it gives us the opportunity to make comparisons of where our technology and products are located, as well as to see our competitors and realize our weaknesses and strengths in order to take them as an impulse. 

What did LISA Insurtech seek to achieve by participating in ITC?

It was the starting point and impetus for the opening of LISA Insurtech in the United States.

Name 3 things you think were important for the insurtech industry from the ITC Vegas event.

  • The high value placed on the speed level of insurtech for insurance.
  • Having the opportunity to take advantage of spaces in the insurance value chain where LISA Insurtech already takes over.
  • The business models that were seen have been very disruptive, which motivates us to keep looking for ways to innovate the insurance industry with technology.

How do you expect LISA to be received in the USA?

LISA Insurtech’s vision is to bring better products and services to improve the quality of life of policyholders through cutting edge technology. Based on this then we can say that it was very nice and warm due to our level of disruption.

Were any agreements or alliances generated with LISA Insurtech? 

There are things that are going to happen in the future and are beginning to take shape. 

How do you see LISA for next year?

LISA Insurtech is going to be even more empowered. We will participate in booths, DEMOS and many more surprises.  

We will also have more exposure, with a more bilingual language and with more changes that will strengthen LISA Insurtech and the acquisition of new clients.

What are we going to strengthen in LISA in 2022?

  • Telematics (TMT).
  • Underwriting, pricing and issuance of policies (risk assessment) (With our LISA Gateway product).
  • Fraud prevention and detection.

LISA is taking off to Europe! And our first stop, Germany

It’s not all bad this 2021! We are happy to say “We made it!” LISA is taking off to Europe! Because it was selected by Insurtech Hub Munich as one of the 30 insurtechs with the most potential worldwide, being part of a competitive group of at least 250 startups globally.

Today we have a great opportunity within the #InnovationProgramme, where we will be able to connect with large insurers in Germany and show them what we do best, innovate!

What is Insurtech Hub Munich?

It is a non-profit organization, operating from Munich, which is supported by the German Federal Government. It was founded by the Bavarian Ministry of Economics, Regional Development and Energy.

It offers an ecosystem of insurance partners, start-ups, investors, universities, research institutions and field experts, as well as government entities.

Insurtech Hub Munich seeks to foster the advancement of innovation and create value for its partners. In the same vein, it aims to build bridges between incumbents and disruptors in order to make the insurance industry fit for the future.

Why is it so important to us?

At LISA we can say that this is one of our biggest milestones, as we have been able to overcome international barriers, taking our brand to another continent. We keep adding achievements to our list!

We will also continue our efforts as always to raise awareness of our products and the great relevance of working on the technologization of the conventional insurance industries.
